As many of you know, our website recently underwent a timely renovation. Helping us with this project were students enrolled in UGA’s New Media Institute, which houses the University’s largest certificate program. According to their website, the New Media Certificate is a credential that demonstrates that a student is “techknowledgable,” that is, that he or she understands new media technologies and their applications in a chosen field. The program culminates in New Media Capstone projects–a program under the direction of John Weatherford. As Weatherford explains, students in his NMIX 4510 class work together, calling “upon all of the skills gained throughout their certificate journey to develop, design, and debut [a project] for a client.” At the end of the semester, the students participate in SLAM, a (virtual) day of showcasing their projects and networking with industry guests and program alumni.

For the Fall 2020 semester, one of the New Media Capstone projects was the redesign and renovation of the AHS website. The students are proud to have helped us build a more user-friendly and visually-pleasing website, and they are happy to invite us to tune into the culmination of their project (as well as the other New Media Capstone projects) on Friday, December 11th via Zoom.
